Has my neighborhood become just another statistic?
One week ago today, my husbands car was broken into. You may remember it from my previous post.
Last night someone did it again. This time the doors had been locked and they broke the window. There was glass everywhere! Nothing was taken, not the cash he'd left in the console, not the CDO's briefcase on the floor. Nothing was touched!
The officer that came by said they'd had all car windows broken at the Farmers Market, directly behind our house.
Since the shooting at the Market a few months ago and now vandalism to cars there and to our car, which could be totally unrelated buy c'mon its a little to convenient dont you think, I feel very unsafe in my quiet little neighborhood anymore.
I am so upset.... How can someone find it fun to bash in car windows costing the owner hundreds of dollars? I don't understand how people think vandalism is funny, but yet they do it all the time.
I really hope karma kicks in here and whoever it was gets what they deserve times 100.

It is so sad on many levels. The truth is our laws say they can pretty much get away with it.
We are no longer allowed to protect our property. These types of people know we won't & legally can't protect ourselves.
In a nutshell, if they want it, they'll take it. If it is fun for them, they'll do it.
Oh I am so sorry!!!!! That is terrible.
You know, I watch Law&Order, CSI and shows like that and it just feeds my already paranoid brain. I'm so scared of something happening all the time. I just don't understand why people can't just all love each other and get along. I'm pretty naïve and I know there is evil in the world, but I just don't see why people "like" doing evil things...like bust out the car window, etc. We should be neighbors and I will watch your house and you watch mine. Plus, you have more fabric that I do
:o)
I hope that made you smile.
Just remember, in the very, very, very end, good will win and evil will lose. We just have to remain "good" and hang in there until justice happens.
Do you have a security alarm on your house and a light that will automatically pop on as someone approaches your house? If you talk to the police, they will give you all kinds of security tips to keep your house safe.
so sorry you have had to deal with all this. i have never experienced a car break-in but my husband and sister have. you feel violated, even if nothing was stolen. we have this sense of protection over intangible things, i can't explain it. i would be devastated if someone broke my windows, or stole something out of my car. i hope this crime wave stops and you return to feeling safe. take care.

Im so sorry to hear that! Vandalism just for fun I think is worse then if they too something. I almost had my purse snatched the other day while walking my dog. Its getting crazy out there!
That is awful. Some people need to find something else to do. Sometimes I think no place in this world is safe. Then again I am scared of my own shadow. I watch all around me everywhere I go. Some of my friends make fun of me, but I don't think you can be too over cautious!
I don't know why people do random acts of nastiness. I am sorry you don't feel safe.
Thank you so much everyone for your kinds words and reassurance! It means a lot to me.
*Little Update*
Later in the day, hubster found a rock about the size of a soccer ball behind the passenger seat. How it didnt maim the inside of his car is beyond belief.
He was able to get the window fixed in one day for a reasonable price. If you call $150 reasonable for someone elses destruction.
Dawn
OMG! That's horrible! :( This happened to my dad's '68 Cadillac a few years back. He keeps it in the garage now...
That is so terrible, it hard to believe that someone just did this for "fun" but that probably is the case.
We've never had a problem where we live now but we moved to this small town from the city. When we bought the house the first thing we did was install security lights all around the house.
It's such a shame that we can't feel safe in our homes any more.
Thats horrendous! I really don't understand why people undertake mindless acts of violence for no reason!
I've always lived in little villages and tried to aviod these crime statistics but they're spreading! my dad's van was broken into when I was younger, when I lived in Oxford a man was openly attacked outside our house for his tools...
I hope it doesn't happen to you again! and fingers crossed the police will be able to catch the people responsible!
That really sucks! I feel for you. We've had that happen. Cheer up. At least you got really cute fabric!
I'm so sorry that happened to you!
This happens from time to time around where I live- people will randomly break out all the car windows, but not take anything.
Yeah, I'm with you on KARMA.
Visiting from SITS!
Arrrggghhh..this is upsetting to hear :-( Even beyond the loss of money, it is a huge aggravation to get something like this fixed...Hoping they have apprehended the losers who did this!
